Designer Crush: Andee Hess + Osmose

It’s been a tumultuous year for all of us so far, and lately, on the West Coast, things have been particularly harrowing. From protests to vigilantes to devastating fires, it feels like the dystopian fiction section of my library is playing out IRL in Portland.

We haven’t let it keep us away from taking on new projects in Portland, Oregon this year though. As we’ve been getting to work on the Portland scene, we have loved seeing the amazing ideas and creativity of the Pacific Northwest and despite the current climate—politically and literally—in Oregon, admiring the work of local designers has given us a brief interlude from disaster planning, coping, and political discourse.

If you follow us on social media, you may have caught our feature of Osmose on Instagram or noticed their gorgeous kid’s room from our recent blog post. If you missed those, you’re in luck because we can’t stop talking about Andee Hess, designer and founder behind the Portland-based, Osmose.

Andee has become well known for designing an impressive number of Portland retail spaces including Salt & Straw, Pok Pok, and Stumptown Roasters.  What we’ve fallen in love with though is her ability to meld her aesthetics over and over to suit an awesome range of styles.  Her domestic interior work is vastly varied with projects wrapped in personality and beautifully reflective of each client’s individuality.
