Exploring Culinary Delights in Puerto Vallarta: A Comprehensive Food Guide

Embarking on a gastronomic journey in the charming, colorful, and vibrant city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is an experience like no other. The city is brimming with an array of culinary delights that range from humble, locally revered street food to sophisticated, award-winning gourmet dining. We, at Forrest Glover Design, are ardent lovers of the local Mexican cuisine and have, over time, cultivated an appreciation for the diverse food scene in the areas where we live and love.

In this guide, we're privileged to include contributions from our dear friend Heidi Herrmann of Strong Arm Farm in Santa Rosa, CA. Heidi's remarkable seaweed harvest from Sonoma County, CA, serves as an inspiration for many of our food adventures.

Also, do take a look at the extensive list of must-try restaurants in Puerto Vallarta curated by our globetrotting food connoisseur friend, Nathan. His insights greatly enrich our culinary exploration, though admittedly, we've yet to sample all of his suggestions.

A Mélange of Food Destinations

Bonita's Kitchen: This delightful eatery recently opened a second location, only a block and a half away from our apartment. Their culinary prowess is well worth exploring.

Tacos Sororita: It was a much-loved spot, but our latest visit suggested a dip in the quality of their offerings. Let's hope they recover soon.

Makal: While it's been whispered that Makal isn’t as great as it used to be, it still holds a high rank among our favorite food places in town.

Casa Kimberly's Iguana: Being a neighbor to this restaurant, I've experienced their Mariachi performances more than anyone could wish for. While their music isn't my personal favorite, their food might appeal to you.

Mi Cafe: This hidden gem, tucked away in the Zona Romantica, offers some of the best breakfast treats in town. Their Rajas, Omelette Supreme, and Hamburgers are truly outstanding. Visit their Facebook page [here](https://www.facebook.com/DeliMiCafe/) for more information.

El Gallo de la Barbacoa: This street food haven at Venustiano Carranza 341 is renowned for its traditional Barbacoa.

MACARENO: Located at Venustiano Carranza 457, this spot in the Zona Romántica offers a unique culinary experience.

Mariscos Fredy: A seafood lover's paradise that offers an array of fresh, tasty dishes.

Cha’: Found at Hamburgo 148a, Versalles, this restaurant promises a delightful gastronomic experience.

Tintoque: Once hailed as the best in town, Tintoque continues to impress with its high-quality fare.

Mariscos Cisneros: Visit Aguacate 271 in the Zona Romántica to experience the best of local seafood cuisine. Don’t miss the Guachanango http://marisco.restaurantwebexperts.com.

Tacos Flaco: Known (by me) as El Chingón of street tacos, a visit to Puerto Vallarta isn't complete without trying Tacos Flaco.

Tacos Revolución: Offering a revolutionary take on the classic taco, this place is well worth a visit.

El Rio BBQ: This BBQ haven is a must-visit for anyone with a penchant for grilled delights. Check out their offerings [here](https://www.elriobbqbar.com/).

Remember, these recommendations are just the tip of the culinary iceberg that awaits you in Puerto Vallarta. The city is full of surprises for adventurous palates, and we can't wait to update this guide with more discoveries. Until then, Buen Provecho!Below are a few of my favorite places to eat in Puerto Vallarta. Bare with me, we are extremely busy with our funding round to purchase a building in San Pancho, Nayarit and creating the BousqueMX brand of custom furniture, fashion, ceramics, and home decor. This blog post will be updated and properly edited soon. I needed to get this posted before my beautiful, special friend Heidi Herrmann of Strong Arm Farm in Santa Rosa, CA came to visit my sweet little apartment. She harvests and sells the most amazing seaweed in Sonoms County, CA.

28Jun22 Update: Check out the new, extensive list from my traveling foodie friend, Nathan, at Must-Try Puerto Vallarta Restaurants | Best Places to Eat in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

I haven’t tried many of these places, but I trust him. Mostly.

Bonita’s Kitchen now has a new, second location a block and a half from my apartment.

Tacos Sororita had gone way downhill the last time I visited.

I've heard Makal isn’t nearly as good as it used to be.

I’m not a fan of Casa Kimberly’s Iguana - I actually used to live directly next door and besides knowing every song by heart, I’m not a fan of Mariachi. At All!
