Neobrutalism - We're still in love with these angles
From 1950 to 1975, Brutalism reigned supreme in the architectural world. The modernist architectural movement of the early 20th century was defined by simple, block-like forms and heavy looking concrete construction. Much like fashion, architectural designs are in one era and out the next, then back again; Brutalism has been highly outdated and overlooked until now. The next generation has found the beauty in this diminishing architecture which has lead to the age of Neobrutalism. (New Brutalism)
One of our favorite Bay Area designers, Lauren Geremia, finds inspiration in this aesthetic with her designs around chunky fireplaces. She captures the NeoBrutalism aesthetic in the most inviting and sophisticated way possible. With modernist inspiration and contemporary designs, anything is possible.
