We recently embarked on a captivating new journey, diving headfirst into the budgeting and design process with one of Atlanta's most sought-after interior designers. With a repertoire of breathtaking designs, they've managed to transform countless spaces into personal sanctuaries, and it's this level of expertise that makes this collaboration an exciting prospect.
One of the unique aspects of this project involves the design of two specific spaces. Each of these spaces features three expansive windows, thus setting the stage for the inclusion of decorative panels. The design group expressed their interest in this distinctive design element, requesting detailed specifications on the fullness of these panels. This added another dimension to our project, emphasizing the crucial role of drapery in the overall aesthetics of a room.

The first space, a serene living room, was designed to accommodate two windows. Each window demanded a 10’ or 120” drapery rod length, a decision rooted in the objective of maintaining harmony with the room's existing décor and design language. This would offer a uniform look and feel to the overall design of the space while ensuring the panels functioned as intended.
The second space, on the other hand, necessitated a more expansive rod, measuring 150” in width. This difference in rod size presented a unique challenge, showcasing the importance of adaptability in the world of interior design.
In our design process, we have several benchmarks that guide our decisions, particularly when it comes to stationary drapery panels. We believe these guidelines to be pivotal in enhancing the look and functionality of any given space.
For windows up to 50” wide, we generally recommend a single width panel. This is essentially a functional panel as per the preference of most designers and homeowners, with 2x fullness being the common choice for contemporary interior design. The idea behind this principle is to maintain a balance between coverage and aesthetics, keeping in line with modern design trends.
As we move up the scale, our approach shifts slightly. For windows that range between 51” and 100” wide, we suggest using panels that are at least 1 1/2” widths wide, assuming the fabric in use is 54” wide. This adjustment is crucial to maintain proportionality, a fundamental aspect of interior design that ensures the drapery aligns seamlessly with the size of the window.
For any windows wider than 100”, our recommendation is to use at least 2 width panels on either side. This approach takes into account the need for appropriate coverage and balance, ensuring that larger windows do not look under-dressed and the aesthetic of the space remains intact.

The original design fell short, and we found ourselves having to remake the panels to add a couple of widths to each side. En nuestro proceso de diseño, tenemos varios puntos de referencia que guían nuestras decisiones, particularmente en lo que respecta a los paneles de cortinas estacionarios. Creemos que estas pautas son fundamentales para mejorar la apariencia y funcionalidad de cualquier espacio dado.
