Work in Progress: San Francisco Yacht Custom Decorative Pillow and Valance Project with AND Design

We all got out start somewhere, and mine came from getting a part time job at a interior design fabric store in San Francisco while attending fashion college. The store was named Sal Beressi Fabrics and had been in SF since the 60s if memory serves me right. One of my very first customers on my first day was Adele Lapointe, architect and owner of AND Design. Her last name is perfect to emphasis how sharp and on point this young lady is. It is great to be doing another small custom sewing project with her even if all the mechanics of our side of the business have changed.

One of the things I love the most about working for other designs and not executing our own designs is to see the amazing creativity and beautiful materials they source. Adele selected a stunning Dedar fabric that just happened to be used on one of my favorite restaurant designs and definitely some of my favorite interior design trend pieces of furniture. This is also one of the main techniques I teach our commercial clients learning to forecast trends. Stay curious and collaborate with a wide variety of very smart and talented people.

I actually posted the last photo of this stunning restaurant in the Phillipines on my Instagram November 3, 2018. https://www.instagram.com/p/BpuaMOoFDWY/
220 weeks before the time I am writing this article, and cane furniture is still going strong, however, this is also one of the reasons I think this interior design trends should be one the tail end of the trend curve.

A few of my other favorite fabrics that Adele chose for this yacht interior remodel project are shown above. Of course, I love the one on the right because it is named and designed after one of my favorite stones, Malachite (healing), at the the moment. Natural malachite is a brightly hued emerald green crystal, rich in design but very dull in luster.
I really love the middle Schumacher fabric as well. It gives me this amazing feeling of the 80s that really seems like it would work well with our Retro Remix interior design trend (link).

NOTE: This blog is a work in progress as we iron out the remaining details for the yacht remodel by AND Design.
