I will be traveling to San Pancho, Nayarit and possibly to Puerto Vallarta later this week to visit a friend from California and check on some of our current interior design projects in Punta Mita and Sayulita.
As everyone is aware of, the Puerto Vallarta real estate market is completely on fire with no signs of it cooling down. Since I spent several years helping write property and home inspection reports in PV, I was able to glean some knowledge from local realtors about some of the best practices to make a profit by purchasing a condo is such a hot market.
The major tip is to purchase a presale condo from a reputable developer (there are many horror stories in this subject), design it comfortably with mid-range furniture, enjoy your condo and rent it as a vacation rental, and eventually sell the condo in 3-4 years for a generous profit. It is also very important to have an amazing realtor. I hgihly recommend Andrea Thompson who now works with Remax brand real estate company, Warren Brander. Her email address is andrea [@] wbrealtygrouppv.com.
One of my favorite building and units that I generally rent is located in Sail View. The owner went with a very unique design. They opted for an overall black and white interior design with the use of pale natural wood throughout the unit.
Although we would have designed the condo with more welcoming art and objects, the condo is quite welcoming and not nearly as sterile as these Airbnb photos appear. The honey colored natural wood used throughout the condo’s interior design really warms up the feeling of the space.
The use of a large L-shaped sectional for the ample living room is ideal. One of the hardest items to purchase in Mexico is comfortable upholstery. We generally have custom sofas, chairs, and most often sectional designed and built in Guadalajara. We have had a ton of success with the furniture factories who build, ship and deliver our upholstery items for our home decor and remodeling projects in the Banderas Bay area. This is a topic that I would like to give a quick warning about. I have personally worked on a handful of interior design projects in Zona Romantica and Conchas Chinas that had already ordered their furniture before we started working with these clients. Lower quality sofas and sectionals had been made in the United States and Canada and shipped down for a ludicrous amount of money. This really makes no sense to me as Puerto Vallarta is located in the same state of Jalisco as Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque which manufacture some of the highest quality furniture in Latin America. Kitchen tables are also quite difficult to find or at least in the styles we prefer at Forrest Glover Design.

Our team also really appreciates the indoor/outdoor living vibe of this Sail View unit. One of the unique features of this building and unit is that many of the units have a view facing the grand Sierra Madre Mountains. Maybe it’s just another result of being named Forrest, but I absolutely love this view and will always prefer the view of a lush jungle over that of an ocean or a bay.
